On 22 October 2007, two Apexians, Jack Kasses and John Lough were presented with special awards for their inspiration and dedication to the Children's Cancer Institute Australia. Over 30 years ago they led the way to providing funding to set up The Apex Centre which houses research into finding a cure for children's cancer. Today, that research facility employs over 100 scientists across 7 major resarch programs, and the organisation is internationally acclaimed as Children's Cancer Institute Australia.

The Apex Foundation have contributed over $2 million to date to this heart-breaking cause. More Australian children die from cancer than any other disease. Sadly, nearly a third of kids still don't make it, despite trememdous achievements over recent decades.

It takes years of laborious work to get to the point of a major breakthrough. Each year is a step closer to eliminating children's suffering from cancer.

The Apex Foundation Board and staff were privileged witha tour of the CCIA premises on 23 November 2007, with Professor Michelle Haber AM, Executive Director of CCIA, leading the way. Professor Haber gave a very informative tour clearly showing her passion for the centre.

Funding for 2007/2008 was approved for further research into two important variables, DNA and lifestyle factors which could prove to have an impact in a person's response to treatment.
