Apex was founded by three young architects on 10 March 1931, Sir John Buchan, Ewan Laird and Langham Proud.

  • By 1939 there were 40 Apex clubs.
  • Apex introduced free milk for Australian school children in 1937.
  • Anti TB X-rays to detect Tuberculosis was a result of Apex lobbying the Australian Government.
  • The Apex Australian Association of Civilian Widows was formed in 1955.     Read their story.
  • The first Guide Dogs for the Blind Training Centre in Australia was established in 1957 by Apex.
  • Talking books and cassettes was made available by Apex in 1964.
  • In the 1970's, the Magic Castle (Chalet) was built and funded by Apexians for the use of underprivileged children free of charge.
  • In 1992, The SHACK was officially opened for families with a child/children suffering from chronic illness or disability, to relax and enjoy a break at affordable rates.
